San Luis Obispo has been a farming community since the mid 1800s. It is a proud legacy that permeates the city’s culture. To honor this heritage, San Luis Ranch will include the original farm house and ag building as the centerpieces of the Ag Heritage Center, a community gathering place. The surrounding 50+ acres of active organic/sustainable farm land and open space, by design, provides our youth with hands-on exposure to farming and agriculture. Community gardens will also accent the neighborhoods helping to foster this learning on a more personal level.
